AXIS Architecture has successfully completed a comprehensive refurbishment of interior common areas at the Julián Camarillo 4b office building in Madrid. Commissioned by the property owner, international developer and investment management firm FREO Group, the work encompassed design, project planning and turnkey delivery.
The total duration of the project was six months, the optimum possible timeframe given the property’s high occupancy rate: close to 85% of an 11,000 m² building distributed over five floors.
The remodel has achieved a substantial improvement in functionality and given the building a prestigious new look. A coherent architectural language is used throughout the common areas to give continuity to the whole.
Particularly worth highlighting is the use of a mixture of elements with different finishes, such as grooved fibre cement panels and lacquered glass, which create an interplay of textures and reflections that combine to form a series of unique spaces.
