Alfa Laval

The multinational company Alfa Laval trusted AXIS Architecture to design and build its new headquarters in Spain.

Alfa Laval is a company with more than 130 years of history, with a presence in more than 100 countries, 42 production centers, 70 service centers around the world and more than 17,000 employees.

The new headquarters located in Alcobendas has an area of 1,150m² distributed on two floors.

The company wanted to take advantage of the change of location to update its image in accordance with the new policy of the group, carrying out a transformation in the way of working that had already been launched in other countries where the brand is present. Therefore, the previous experience in these countries and the commitment to generate new work spaces, were the initial premises for the new concept of these offices.

The final design adapts to the geometry of the building, with floors in the shape of an "L", creating open space areas on each floor, organizing around them the various auxiliary areas and the offices of the different departments.

Special attention has been paid to the existence of areas that, without being work areas, can be used as an extension of those, individually or collectively. With this concept different elements are generated, such as a "pool" for informal meetings in the open area, an area with armchairs and beanbags, "phone boxes", meeting tables in the office and, finally, an equipped exterior area and a garden of more than 100m² with furniture that allows different configurations to extend and project the activity of the office in the open air.

In the meeting areas there is a distinction between those that have a public or internal character. Internal meetings usually take place in the existing rooms on the first floor or in any of the flexible spaces mentioned above, however those that have a public nature are held in the meeting rooms located on the ground floor. These are designed for flexibility, so that they can accommodate different ways of meeting: around a table, in a classroom format for a training course, or a presentation, and with a capacity of up to 60 people.

Signage and graphic design have been important elements to create a unique and different image for the office, as well as to transmit the values of the company.
